ACTIVISTS OF the Shiv Sena took to the streets and burnt the effigy of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to protest against the desecration of the statue of Meena Tai, wife of party president Balasaheb Thackeray, in Mumbai.

Hundreds of Shiv Sanikas assembled at Chawla Market crossing, Govind Nagar. Agitated members expressed resentment at the desecration of late Meena Tai’s statue and held the State Government of Maharashtra, led by the Congress party, responsible for the incident.

The Shiv Saniks also raised anti-Congress slogans. They gave vent to their ire by burning the effigy of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion party district chief Dileep Singh lambasted the Congress for the incident. Former State president Subodh Chopra also addressed the gathering. He also held the Maharashtra government responsible for the incident. The agitators also demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
